Ladies and Gentlemen,
Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of the Scientific and Organisational Committee, it is my pleasure to announce that on 5 – 6 November 2021 in Warsaw the Department and Clinic of General, Transplant and Liver Surgery of the Medical University of Warsaw is organising the INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON INNOVATIVE EXPERT HEPATOBILIARY SURGERY “LES COMPAGNONS HEPATO-BILIAIRES” within the framework of the 10th Jubilee International Symposium “PROGRESS IN LIVER SURGERY AND TRANSPLANTATION”.

The upcoming edition will be absolutely exceptional, as we will be hosting a unique international group of eminent experts in liver surgery and transplantation, brought together by a veritable legend in this area of surgery, Professor Henri Bismuth from Villejuif, France. Professor Henri Bismuth created a world-renowned school of hepatobiliary surgery, and in 1987 from among his students brought to life a prestigious organisation named Les Compagnons Hepato-Biliaires. Every year, the Compagnons meet in a selected liver surgery centre in Europe, America or Asia to present and discuss the latest, most topical and controversial achievements in their field. In 2021, the honour of receiving the Compagnons is ours – the Department and Clinic of General, Transplant and Liver Surgery of the Medical University of Warsaw.

The International Symposium on Progress in Liver Surgery and Transplantation, first organised in 1996, has become a regular fixture in the calendar of academic conferences bringing together specialists from the fields of hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery and liver transplantation. Because of its broad thematic scope, it has also always attracted the keen interest of professionals specialising in hepatology, gastroenterology, infectious diseases, radiology, oncology, anaesthesiology and anatomical pathology. The 10th Jubilee Symposium promises to be exceedingly attractive.
At our 2021 Conference we will be hosting many distinguished and experienced experts and specialists from leading hepatology and transplantology facilities, both domestic and international – from Europe, Asia, North and South America.

The high academic rank of the event is reflected by the fact that previous editions, just like the upcoming event, gained the scientific patronage of such prestigious societies as the Association of Polish Surgeons, Polish Transplantation Society, Polish Association for Study of Liver, as well as the European Society for Organ Transplantation, European Liver and Intestine Transplant Association, European-African Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association and many others. I have no doubt that the conference will provide many opportunities for lively and productive exchange of clinical and scientific experiences, as well as a venue for integrating the communities of surgery, transplant and oncology professionals.

Current information will be posted on the Symposium website at: www.compagnonshb-warsaw2021.pl

Let me take this opportunity to encourage you and extend a warm invitation to take an active part in our INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON INNOVATIVE EXPERT HEPATOBILIARY SURGERY “LES COMPAGNONS HEPATO-BILIAIRES” within the framework of the 10th Jubilee International Symposium “PROGRESS IN LIVER SURGERY AND TRANSPLANTATION”, 5-6 November 2021, in Warsaw.
